Product Description
Hidden up above the quiet bays of Mount Athos, the St. George Kellion of Kolitsou was home to some of the most remarkable Athonite Elders of the 20th century. This book gathers their lives, struggles, and spiritual counsel—above all the witness of the recently glorified Elder and Saint Dionysius Ignat (†2004), but also his fellow strugglers such as Hieroschemamonk George (Gamaliel) Boboc (†2005), Elder John Shova (†2009), and other fathers who lived and prayed in this small corner of the Holy Mountain.
Through eyewitness accounts, pilgrims’ journals, and rare testimonies, Rivers of Living Water opens a window into the Athonite life at Kolitsou: to their nights of stillness and prayer, to their bonds of spiritual brotherhood in Christ, to the hardships of poverty and exile they endured, and to the spiritual wisdom distilled within them through decades of ascetic struggle.
This is not simply a biography of one man but a living memory of a spiritual family, bound together in Christ and dedicated to the Mother of God, the Protectress of the Holy Mountain. Readers will find here not only the history of a Kellion and its fathers, but also guidance, encouragement, and a glimpse of the grace that sustained them.
This is a book for pilgrims, for seekers, and for all who desire to taste the freshness of the Gospel flowing through the monastic heart of Mount Athos.

A True Treasure
This book offers us Godly wisdom through the revelation of the real daily lives and the mystical inner life in Christ, of the Holy Elders of Kolitsou, Mount Athos—including the newly glorified Saint Dionysius. The author (Hieromonk Nicodemus Jones) shares an extensive collection of detailed personal accounts of himself and others, as well as interviews. He paints a vivid picture of the historical and political climates that impacted the lives and struggles of the Saints and Fathers of the Holy Mountain, as well as the Orthodox Church. Through the details of the lives of the Elders featured in the book—we are provided with grounding examples of how to live a Spiritual and truly God-centered life—in Christ—in our contemporary times and own personal lives. The book provides us with concrete examples of ways one can draw closer to God and increase in love for God and one another, faith, humility, and patience—even in times of suffering. We are gifted with Godly wisdom from the Elders of Kolitsou, as well as the Saints and Fathers who influenced their own Spiritual lives. The author masterfully integrates details in a way that makes things come to life, and that is clear and understandable. The book includes lots of pictures of the Elders and Mt. Athos. The author also offers readers the gift of his own self-authored Troparion and Kontakion in honor of Saint Dionysius—to be used in private prayer. I most definitely recommend this book as a must read for everyone. Glory to God!
